Ramsbottom United's joint manager Anthony Johnson has ruled himself out for the rest of the season, according to the article in this week's Rossendale Free Press, following the injury that he sustained in the ridiculous Maine Road match that should never have gone ahead.

On his visit to the fracture clinic last week, Johnson was told the bones in his broken leg are knitting in place and they would not needed pinning.

He said: "I do not have to have it pinned and it is just a case of keeping it rested and not putting any weight on it.

Johnson explained: "I have been looking after it right and not putting any weight on it. I just want to play football again.

"I go back to the hospital on 21 January and if the x-rays are good then I can get the cast off. The doctors have told me that as long as I do the rehab and I am comfortable with how it is then I could play in three months. That will take me up to the end of April or May. But I will probably not rush it and risk it for three or four games when I am not fit so I will probably leave it until next season.

"It is boring because I am sitting on may backside all the time. People have been ringing up to wish me well but it is just a case of resting and that is it."

No doubt, with this being the most successful season in recent memory for Ramsbottom United and Anthony's first as co-manager with Bernard Morley, it is a massive blow to him and the team as he currently sits at the top of the goalscorers list with 10.

Not that 'someone' will care much!
