Ramsbottom United Under 18 side claimed their third win of the season with a superb 2-1 victory over ProVision NorthWest 'A' (which is Bacup Borough's youth side) in the North West Youth Alliance Division One game.

Aaron Nuttall gave the Rams a third minute lead when he was on the end of a fine move to slot home against the side of ex-youth players from a number of pro clubs in the North West, now under the careful eye of former Manchester City player Andy Hill, who is now in charge on youth development at Bacup Borough.

ProVision certainly had their chances to level the scores but missed numerous opportunites while the home side, cheered on by a healthy crowd of over 60, had their fair share of possession but couldn't make it count.

The visitors finally found the target six minutes into the second half but the parity lasted all of a minute.

Ramsbottom claimed a corner almost immediately from the kick-off and, following a desperate scramble which saw the ball bounce back off the crossbar, Danny Moult's shot had enough power to creep over the line to restore the lead.

Some outstanding goalkeeping from the Rammy stopper kept ProVision at bay while the home attackers had a couple of great chances to bury the game but were off the mark.

The win moves Rammy upto sixth in the table and manager Pete Jackson was delighted with the result, especially as they had not played or trained for two months.

"We have not had the chance to get together because of the weather but we played superbly considering our rustiness," he said.

"There were plenty of chances in the game but we created as many as they did and deserved the win in the end."
