After announcing that we would not be entitled to enter the competition, the Bolton Hospitals Cup organisers have changed their minds and allowed Ramsbottom United to enter - and the draw has been made.
Once again, there were eight teams in the hat (which would have been more but for the poor weather of late) and Rammy have drawn Bolton County for the second successive season at home, a game that is likely to be played on Wednesday 7th April at The Riverside with a 7.30pm kick-off.
What do we know about Bolton County? We met them for the first time last season in the first round of the competition and in front of 55 hardly souls, Rammy prevailed 2-1 having gone a goal down to Ged McGreavy's 35th minute opener. However, Isaac Adams levelled five minutes later and the winner came with just four minutes left on the clock at the end of the match when Lee Connell struck.
However, our opponents find themselves rock bottom of the West Lancashire League Division 2 (which I believe is five division below us in the NWCL) with only two wins from their 16 games this season so, on paper, this should be a fairly winable game - but you know what cups are like !!!!
The draw in full is .... QUARTER-FINALS
Ramsbottom United v Bolton County Breightmet United v Tempest United Turton v Eagley Atherton LR v Stoneclough
SEMI-FINALS
Ramsbottom United or Bolton County v Turton or Eagley Breightmet United or Tempest United v Atherton LR or Stoneclough
FINAL at The Reebok Stadium on May 10 (7.30pm kick-off) |
